I headed over to the Nave Annex <\/a>on Thursday to escape the summer heat at\u00a0the opening of “Winter.” The show, co-curated by\u00a0Jenn Harrington<\/a>\u00a0& Susan Berstler, transports\u00a0viewers out of hot July and into an icy exploration of January. The works included in the show range from the specific to the abstract, from photographic to sculptural, but they all evoke a sense of deep freeze. The show is dedicated to Dave Lamb of Brown Bird<\/a>, who passed away this Spring. His music plays throughout the exhibit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beth Galston and Blake Hiltunen seem to have found a way to make ice that can survive July.<\/p>\n

And Christina Balch creates a stormy bare branch lightning bolt.<\/p>\n
