I managed to catch an awesome local artist show as well as checking out the fancy galleries while I was in NYC.
Mister Rogers is an art event space in Brooklyn. The front of the space featured a show called “Layers” by Rachel Deutsch. Deutsch is a recent graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and now is making art in NYC. She uses a combo of collage and screenprinting to create her vibrant multi-layered pieces.
I especially loved her “Summer time sadness series” prints.
I only caught one of the performances out of around half a dozen – Dave Nelson Music was playing while I was there. I am an absolute sucker for a good looping artist and Dave Nelson was phenomenal. I’d never seen a trombonist using looping pedals before. You can listen to his music Here.
