I headed over to the Nave Annex on Thursday to escape the summer heat at the opening of “Winter.” The show, co-curated by Jenn Harrington & Susan Berstler, transports viewers out of hot July and into an icy exploration of January. The works included in the show range from the specific to the abstract, from photographic to sculptural, but they all evoke a sense of deep freeze. The show is dedicated to Dave Lamb of Brown Bird, who passed away this Spring. His music plays throughout the exhibit.

I have the pleasure of being included in “State of Being” at the Piano Craft Gallery in the South End this month. I attended the opening reception on Friday and was very impressed with the caliber of work in the show. The exhibition, curated by Danielle Festa, is billed as “A Collection of Figurative and Portrait Art” and features paintings, drawings, sculptures, and photographs exploring the idea of the individual. The work ranges from the abstract to the specific, covering a wide amount of ground while still staying tightly curated.  Pictured below are a few of my favorites, but I invite you to stop by the gallery to check out this highly enjoyable show. The show is up until July 27.
